FINRA Bolsters Crypto Oversight with Appointment of Four Policy Experts
The Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) has appointed four crypto-savvy figures to its board, signaling a strategic push to strengthen oversight as digital assets increasingly intertwine with traditional finance. Rostin Behnam, former CFTC chair, leads the new appointees, bringing his track record of advocating for comprehensive crypto regulations while cracking down on market manipulation.
Behnam's tenure at the CFTC saw him champion proactive federal oversight for the $3.5 trillion digital asset market. His appointment, alongside Dan Gallagher and two others, injects FINRA's governance with expertise spanning derivatives regulation, public pensions, and financial services—a MOVE that aligns with broker-dealers' growing involvement in crypto trades.
